Guest Speaker

In class we had a guest speaker, Holly Richardson. She is a former Utah House Representative, she is also a midwife and mother of TWENTY children!
“Holly Richardson is a conservative political activist who writes an award-winning blog covering Utah and national politics. Known as “Holly on the Hill,” she has been on Utah’s Capitol Hill during the annual legislative session for the last decade. ”  hollyonthehill.com
I enjoyed listening to what she had to say, what I found I liked about her is how blunt she is. I may not believe in all of her views, but I can respect her for speaking her mind.  Listening to Holly has given me inspiration to start being more vocal about my opinions, I shouldn't be scared to speak out even though someone may not agree! I also liked that she is a mother, she is a representative for the voice of mothers everywhere!

In class we discussed a lot of topics, my favorite topic was discussing that if someone braids your hair and gets paid for it without having a license for it, that person is breaking a law! I understand both sides of the argument on this topic, but I still find it a little ridiculous and this shouldn't be a law. Something like this people are going to find ways around it anyway, for example, instead of paying the person for the braid they could leave a tip or happen to forget money on the table. There are more important things going on in the world that should be of more focus, lets stop wasting time on petty things like this!

  1. I agree, it is so petty and trivial, hair braiding laws, sheesh. Good post, and I hope that you can be more vocal in class too!
