My name is Amanda Heaps. I am a mom of one son, his name is Richard Corbin Bunker he is almost five years old. My son is my everything! He is the sweetest and most sensitive little boy who puts a smile on my face everyday. He is friendly to everyone, but girls watch out he is a lady killer! Apparently in school all the girls like him and he has fun chasing them around. He loves sports and I think he will become a great football player.
I'm not technically married, but I have been with my son's dad for six years! His name is Richard Derek Bunker. Everyone calls him by his middle name, Derek. The name Richard is a big deal with Derek's family because his dad was polygamist and named a good handful of his sons Richard D. Bunker. Derek is the last of 36 brothers and sisters and he wanted to pass down the name with his first son. Right now in Derek's life he is working on getting his CDL so that he can make more money to help me fulfill my dream of being home more with our son.
So lets talk a little more about me! :) I am 25 years old with an old soul! I had to mature faster than most people of my age. I had a rough childhood that made me grow up and face the reality of life and not being able to always be a kid. I don't regret it though, it has made me who I am today and I am pretty proud of my accomplishments.I have only had four jobs so far. I worked at Marie Callender's for eight years. Started as a busser and cashier and eventually made my way up to general manager. Towards the end I started to grow a passion for baking I was getting bored with the paperwork I wanted to be in the back. Well, a year and a half ago Marie's went bankrupt and I didn't have a job. I needed to make a decision at this point and either stick with managing, which I was good at, or follow my passion and go to school.
Fall of 2011 I decided to go to The Art Institute of Salt Lake. BEST DECISION OF MY LIFE!!!! I enjoy baking and creating art! I have always been artistic with drawing, but I wanted more and I get that satisfaction out of my creations with cakes, cupcakes and chocolate! I am happy to say I have found my calling in life. :)

How inspiring! First of all your blog is beautiful, you have an artistic eye. Your son is very cute! I have a five year old girl too, it is so fun. I think it is so great that you are chasing your dream, it's a risk worth taking!
